§ 218

Abortion is an essential part of women's medical care and remains a central issue in societal and political discourse. Even after the repeal of § 219a in 2022, many questions persist surrounding self-determination, access to safe abortions, and legal barriers—both in Germany and internationally. The program *§ 218* brings together three short films that address this complex issue in different ways. They tell stories of individual decisions, societal pressures, and the often invisible challenges that an unwanted pregnancy can bring. Between empathy and misunderstandings, between legal texts and lived reality, the films offer a compelling and sensitizing perspective on the topic. Accompanying the screening, representatives from the pregnancy counseling center *pro familia*, *Medical Students for Choice*, and *pro familia in action (pia)* will introduce their work and invite the audience to a discussion with the filmmakers in attendance. The films will be screened in their original language. The talk will be held in english.
